1. "Not like to do something" và "not like doing something"
a. Not like to do something:
Ta dùng cấu trúc này để nói về một việc ta không thích và không làm
>> I don’t like to go out with you.
(tôi không thích ra ngoài với bạn)
b. Not like doing something:
Ta dùng cấu trúc này để nói đến một việc ta không thích nhưng vẫn phải làm
>> I don’t like doing my homework.
(Tôi không thích làm bài tập về nhà)
2. "As a result" và "as a result of":
a. As a result (+ clause) = therefore
>> Bill had not been working very hard during the course. As a result, he failed the exams.
(= Bill had not been working very hard during the course. Therefore, he failed the exams)
b. As a result of (+ noun phrase) = because of
>> The accident happened as a result of the fog.
(= The accident happened because of the fog)
3. "Like doing something" và "Would like to do something"
a. Like doing something:
Ta dùng cấu trúc này để nói về một sở thích
>> I like playing guitar. = My hobby is playing guitar.
b. Would like to do something:
Ta dùng cấu trúc này để nói về sở thích nhất thời
>> I’d like to drink some coffee. = I want to drink some coffee now.
4."Hardly / Scarely" và "No sooner": (với nghĩa ngay khi)
a. Hardly/ Sccarely + clause 1 + when + clause 2
>> Hardly will he come when he wants to leave.
b. No sooner + clause 1 + than + clause 2
>> No sooner does she earn some money than she spends it all.
5. In case of và in case:
a.In case of + N (= If there is/are )
>> In case of a fire, you should use stair.
(= If there is a fire, you shoulh use stair)
b. In case + S + do/does/did + V (= Because it may/might happen)
>> He took an umbrella in case it rained
(= He took an unbrella because it might rain)
